Default HID Install Help

I will be installing my new HID kit tomorrow and can't figure out where I should mount the balast at. There doesn't seem to be an easy place to put it. I was probably going to mount them with some super 3M tape. Can anyone provide any pics of their balast installed?

I am also curious about one part of the instructions. It says "Make sure to leave 500mm between the bulb front and the metal shade, otherwise this system may be damaged by electric arc of high voltage." I don't know what the "metal shade" is or what exactly they mean.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!!

Goto this supporting vendor site; www.djmotorsportaccessories.com He has detailed instructions you can download that should work for you. BTW, the C5 lens doesn't have a metal shade in it.

I installed mine on top of the fenders right behind the lights you can see the silver box on the right fender. I've thought about moving the to a hidden place but I haven't made the effort. this was an eisy place to mount them.

I put 4 sets so far under the light without any issues.

Another suggstion if you question if the tape will hold is to drill a hole from the wheel well in and then put a bolt through. The self tapping screws they give you make no sense since the point side will be facing the tire.

There are pictures of the install at www.ecsracing.com look under product installation.

If your HID kit came with metal brackets, that the ballasts slide into, there's a great place to mount them under the headlight buckets. I had to remove the hood stop pins to get my arm in there, but that just takes 15 sec. with a 13mm wrench. Assuming your plastic trim is removed, you can see a large open area under the headlights. There's a couple of bolts protruding from the radiator support/fenderwell area, that have nuts attached. I just used these to mount the furnished brackets, and then slid in the ballasts. This mounts them low, and away from the lowering buckets, and it's mechanism.

And BTW, anybody considering doing this mod, I say do it! I tried them out last night, and the difference is phenominal. When I tried my stock brights, it was exactly like putting on yellow tinted sunglasses.

Oh, and on an install note.... on my kit, I had to reverse the polarity of the modular plugs to make it work. If you clip them together like they're supposed to, they won't work. Just keep black wire, to black wire.

You are THE MAN! I couldn't get them to work for the life of me and I finally reversed the polarity and boom they work! I did find the bolts to mount the brackets on to also. They seemed like they were almost made for them! All I did was hang the bracket on them and use some of the nuts of the bolts that came in the kit. Fit nicely!!!

Thanks for all the links and help guys!!

PS: On a side note....I am having another problem with the headlights in general. I made another post for it just now.
