I just got my car back today, I am having the Sevice Column Lock message on my dash, but I replaced the battery, and after I did I started the car, went to back out the parking lot, and the engine cut off... I turned it back on and put it in drive to pull forward, wheels didnt turn a full turn and it cut off. Well I got the car moved, unplugged the battery and figured out after I plug it back in and i turn the car on for the first time it will go. If i turn it off and back on it won't got more then a turn of the wheels without the engine cutting off. The dash says "Turn key and wait 10 seconds"
Does anyone know what is causing this and how I fix it? Is it related to the Column Lock?
The computer thinks that you're having a problem with the column lock. As soon as you move over 2 mph the fuel shuts off. You must have had the first recall completed.
You need to find out why the computer thinks your column lock is broken. I had the electrical motor that drives the pin fail (in the recessed position) and had the same symptoms.
check the bcm2 fuse , I believe it is the #23 fuse in the panel under the kickplate under the passengers feet . If you dont have an aftermarket column lock bypass , GET ONE !!
I've had the car serviced by GM before it got painted for the column lock error. It shouldn't have came back should it?
A buddy of mine had the column lock issue after he had it "fixed" by GM. I was on the phone with him while he was laying on his back under the dash for about 45 minutes. GM had installed a wire harness in between the factory plug. He unplugged this harness and plugged the original plug back together and it fixed it. It has been fine for about 6 months now. I would try this to see if it fixes it temporarily and then get the aftermarket bypass to fix it permanently.

They didn't give me the original plug back. The car is back in the shop though. I figured out a way to bypass it but it only works once.
Took it to POHANKA Cheverlot in chantilly va 4 times, each time it was supposed to be fixed, It was not done so in a permanent manner.
It's the saddest thing seeing a vette being hauled away on a roll back because of this.
I will never use Pohanka Cheverlot in northern va for anything. They kept trying to charge me for a warentee item, were slow, damaged my car, and were deceptive.
Watch the chevy dealers like a hawk, you'll go in w/ a warantee item and come out -$2000.
I would love for some one from chevy to stick up for this piece of shi!% dealership. I will send them the records invoices and letters and they can explain their certified service center's actions.
what crap, I couldn't believe when they scratched my climate control face and cracked my dash then trued to super glue it and use a piece of electrical tape over the scratch. LIKE I'm not going to notice!!!!
I figured out the problem. There was an aftermarket secruity system put in the car and it was interfearing with the stock one. I tore the aftermarket out, and got the stock wiring redone and it worked.
