I have a 2002 convertible and it looks like I
need a new EBCM. Has anyone done this and
if you have what troubles can I expect to run
into.
Thanks in advance for any help.

There is reams of help on this Forum for this issue. Search EBCM and you will get more than you ever wanted to know.
not hard
just get the correct torx for the screws and some different lenght extensions. I can pull one/replace now in 30-45mins. Taking off the intact duct takes almost as long as the ecbm now .
First time will take abit longer but it's definately do-able
get your ECBM rebuilt as well. Search some threads of mine from Nov/Dec of 06 and there was a place I used and saved alot of $$$ and alot better warranty than delco. Plus we all know the Delco parts don't hold up. This company supposidly upgrades the problem components.
cheers
Had a b**** of a time with mine. Will be somewhat easier next time around. Need to take air bridge off, drain radiator and take top radiator hose all the way off, and the radiator top cover.
Very little room to get the two bracket bolts facing the driver side, but not impossible. The stuff facing the pass side can also be done from underneath.
Im not sure I got mine back in properly, all codes are gone except 1217, so I need to revisit.
As far as the search thing goes, there are plenty of posts mentioning it, but not much meat on them bones.
Good luck!
10mm for nuts and T-20 for the four bolts holding the ebcm to the bpmv. Don't try to take the power steering resevoir off like I did, now its kinda cockeyed.
I didn't take anything off except the air bridge. The oil or powersteeriing cooler right above my steering rack was a pain to work around on one of the lower screws but otherwise it was just a matter of finding the right angle to approach and the right extension to use. I did have a flexible shaft driver to use though . I forget if that made much of a difference as I was using it as an extension too.

Bingo, that would have been very useful, the one I have is too long for the two back bracket bolts, but that would work well for all the pass side facing stuff.

I removed mine last October and had it rebuilt by a company in Florida. It solved all my TC / AH codes.
Not all that hard to remove on my 2002. Removing the air bridge makes it easier to get to. You will need a couple of Torx drivers in different lengths. there are six screws to remove and then with a little gentle pressure it should come off. The toughest thing about it for me was getting the torx driver lined up with the screw. It's hard to see the lower ones and had to use both hands to line it up. Unless you've done it before it's about 30 min job to take off and a 15 min job to put back on.
Here's a post with some EBCM information that may prove helpful.
