I've had my 99 C5 for about one and a half yr. I take good care of it in everyway. Its got only 24K miles or so on it. No major mods: just the Blackwing and Ti's. Today out of No where I got a code on the display. It said, "Charging system fault". It stayed there for a bit, then went away after I hit the Reset button. I came back on when I drove the car again for a little bit and went away. The car has been driving fine otherwise. I had put in a new battery about 3 weeks ago, though not an expenssive one, but I've used it before with no problems on this car. So, what's the reason for the message I got?
Thanks in advance...

Mine did that once last year. I had just started up the car on a hot day, I had the AC cranked, the stereo on, and maybe some other electronics drawing power. I think it was just a brief voltage dip that tirggered it. That was the only time I'd ever seen that message and it's run fine ever since. I wouldn't worry about it unless it keeps happening.
Your alternator could be getting weak as well. take it to a napa or autozone or other parts store and they can check your charging system in the parking lot for little or no cost at all.
I've seen that error a few times on my 01 Coupe with it's 2nd battery in it. I cured it by tightening the battery bolts. It lasted for many months and came back, tightened the bolts again and it's been gone for awhile now. If that doesn't cure it, you may have a battery going bad or the alternator.
