I posted this several days ago on the LS1 forum, but nobody wanted to help.
Maybe you could.
I am installing a 1999 F-body LS1 into my 1970 corvette. I am getting rid of the air pump, EGR, A/C and power steering pump. I am using corvette exhaust manifolds, no cats, O2 sims, 2.5 chambered dual exhaust.
What kind of codes am I looking at without getting the computer reprogrammed? Do certain codes cause the computer to control the engine differently?
Thanks
I dont beleive any of the items being removed as your described would effect ignition or fuel control/delivery. The airpump is for startup to inject fresh air into the system. Just make sure your precat O2 sensor is installed. The aftercat sensor doesnt control fuel delivery, and is the one you want to use a simulator on.
You may also want to look at Holley. they make a LS1 computer system for drag racing, that may work for your application and give you more tuning control.
Also, I think vette magazine, and or corvette fever have or are doing this conversion also. They may have some info for you.
You will throw codes for !EGR, !AIR, !A/C, etc but the car will run just fine. How do I know? I did just that with my stock PCM in my SS before it was programmed.
