Vararam B2
I hear that the stock LS1 is 345hp (flywheel) minus the ~18% of drivetrain loss (62hp) = 283rwhp.
Basic math tells me that my dyno number (325) minus the stock rwhp (283 (rwhp) = 42rwhp gain. I would believe that the catback system probably contributed ~5 - 10rwhp to this. The numbers don't lie.
Not to mention the increased throttle response from 50 - 90mph is awesome. I think it is worth the investment!!
Instructions say to drive normally at road speed for 45 to 60 minutes.
Saturday, I drove the 4-lane at 65-70 mph for about 100 miles.
I can't boast 40 hp gain or whatever.
Did get really good throttle responce all the way up to road speed.
Oh, I drove through some pretty heavy rain part of the way. No trouble.
I do recommend this product.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
My car first went from stock to a Blackwing (no shroud mod). When I put the Blackwing on my car I noticed a definite improvement over stock form. Throttle response was greatly improved and the dyno results showed an approximate 12rwhp gain. I was very happy with the Blackwing. However, all the talk of the Vararam (good and bad) on this site led me to contemplate switching to a Vararam VR2B. With all the talk of quality issues, etc, I just had to wait for the right price to come along.
So, a couple of weeks ago I gave in and bought a VR2B from a forum member. I ditched the Blackwing and swapped in a VR2B. The install was the usual PITA. After doing the install, I must give some props to Vararam Industries' attempts to make the front fog light area a functional intake. It's pretty cramped in there! After driving my car for a week now, I can say the Vararam is an improvement over the Blackwing. At lower speeds my butt-o-meter is unsure of any real gains over the Blackwing -- though I'm sure my IATs are much lower in stop-n-go traffic. However, there is a noticeable improvement over the Blackwing at speed. Third gear bursts from 60-120 are definitely quicker and the car just seems to "pull" harder. I have no regrets in making the switch.
The best part is probably the massive sucking noise which now emanates from the front of my car. It's already scared a few small children and animals.

with pretty much everything said. I went froma Halltech to a Vararam and my runs averaged around 3 tenths and 2 MPH better. That loosely translates into a 30 HP gain over the Halltech. From stock there would have been a bigger difference. It was a PITA to install and Cajundudes instructions were a great help. I am 100% satisfied with the performance of this intake.
