My harmonic balancer is wobbling a bit on my 2000 C5. I'm thinking of trying an aftermarket balancer,if so what is a good reasonable priced one.I had belt noise before I went to the gatorback belts. That stopped the noise.I'm just concerned about the wobble before I get on the road.Need some advice on what too do.

You can get the various underdrive pulleys in the $200's (powerbond, asp, slp, etc.) But I would recommend an ATI harmonic balancer. It will cost almost twice as much, but looking at it it was really a race-quality piece. Why not go with the best while you're doing it. $420 is really not that bad.

I just did mine, I used a Powerbond that I purchased through Scoggin-Dickey Chevrolet in Lubbock http://www.sdpc2000.com
Cost less than $200 shipped, 10% underdrive. I also paid my local shop to install it, and I believe that was money well spent as it was a total beeootch to remove. My mech said he broke a puller trying to get my damper to come off.

Thanks for the info . And indeed it is a bear to remove . I found an after market GM designed piece that was 143.00 . I hope it does the job . What type of pulley should be used on this job ?
You need a 6" three-jaw puller to get the pulley off, and you'll have to pull the power steering rack to the side. I don't know what you need to do before moving the rack, I did mine during a cam install. You might not need to touch the radiator but I'm not sure. You will need to get at the power steering lines. LS1tech has a good cam install guide look at that.
FYI- gmparts direct has a new factory balancer for about $100 shipped. Texas Speed has an underdrive with belts for $200 plus shipping. I'd get the ARP bolt, $29 shipped from Jegs, lots of places don't have them right now.
My car has about 43K on it and the pulley was wobbling and I had an oil leak in the front. When I got the pulley off it had DEEP grooves worn into the snout. You might end up having to pull your front cover to replace the front seal. In fact I'd bet just changing the pulley will likely cause the front to start leaking if it doesn't already. And if you're going to do THAT... pick out a new cam!

I've got a take-off balancer from an LS6 crate motor with 0 miles on it if your interested. Shoot me a PM if you want it, I'll make you a deal you can't refuse.
As far as removing the balancer, the best tool to use is the tool designed for the job. Get an OTC-6667 to remove the balancer and a SPX/Kent Moore J41665 to install it. With the OTC-6667, you do not have to remove the radiator. There is a guy named Chris Aspnes [hawk618] on LS1tech that has a nice installation tool also.
