I have a 2004 Z06. In the last couple of months the cruise control has started to disengage while driving at normal highway speeds. I checked the codes and there are none. It's very sporadic and happens 2-3 times in about a 200 mile trip. Any ideas out there as to what might be causing this?
2004 coupe and when I engage the CC, I get the "cruise set at xx MPH" message, but 2 seconds later the "Cruise Disengaged" message. 50% of the time, the press of the CC button does nothing???????. Along with a ignition cylindr issue (B2723 code and now the key won't turn), car is going in for work. Will let you know.
Just a wild guess here...are you by chancing accidently touching the brake pedal or clutch? If those CC termination/safety switches are adjusted too close, maybe a simple bump in the road or your foot will trip it off.

I made sure the last time I was out that my foot wasn't anywhere near either the clutch or brake. Wish it was that simple.
The pressure switch on the brake pedal assembly may be adjusted to shallow, then just a good bump will disengage it. Easy to adjust.....just follow up the pedal arm and you will see it (with cover off).

Another thing to consider. Bumps in the road can cause almost instantaneous changes in rear wheel speeds thus causing TC to activate for a brief moment. When this happens the cruise is automatically cut off.
Thanks Bill, but I was watching for that and the last time it disengaged was on a smooth stretch of road.
BTW, I know that the front of the brake & clutch cover is held in by plastic pop rivets, but how the heck do you get that back retainer off the steel rod?
Not sure if this is related, but I had this problem when my battery leaked acid into my pcm area. If u have a liquid acid battery, better check to make sure this isn't the issue. Might be time for a Orbital battery.

Are you talking about the under dash close out/IP Insulator panel? If so here are the instructions for adjusting the switch including removing and installing the panel:
Cruise Release Switch Adjustment
Remove the left I/P lower insulator panel. Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement Removal Procedure
Using a flat bladed tool, carefully pry the I/P courtesy lamp assembly from the LH lower closeout panel.
Remove the push-on retaining nut from the steering column bracket stud.
Release the LH lower closeout panel push-in retainers from the I/P lower support beam.
Insert the I/P courtesy lamp assembly up through the opening in the closeout panel.
Lower and remove the closeout panel. Release the notch in the RH forward edge of the closeout panel from the tab on the accelerator pedal bracket.
Ensure that the cruise control release switch is fully seated to the cruise control release switch bracket. Push the switch down toward the switch bracket; audible clicks will be heard while pushing the switch.
Adjust the cruise control release switch. Grasp the clutch pedal and pull fully rearward against the pedal stop; audible clicks may be heard as the switch moves into the adjusted position.
Install the left I/P lower insulator panel. Insert the I/P courtesy lamp down through the opening in the closeout panel.
Install the closeout panel into position.
Secure the closeout panel push-in retainers to the I/P lower support beam.
Secure the notch in the RH forward edge of the closeout panel to the tab on the accelerator pedal bracket. Align, then push up to secure.
Install the push-on retaining nut to the steering column bracket stud.
Align the I/P courtesy lamp to the closeout panel opening, then push to secure.
Thanks for those instructions, Bill. Good stuff. That push-on retaining nut is the one I was talking about. It's a bear to get to and it's on that stud like it's welded to it. I couldn't move it with any tool I tried. Got any tips on how to get that thing off without destroying it?

Your going to destroy it, just put a screwdriver under it and pry it off then when your ready to put it back together go down to Lowes and buy another one.
