Default Stuck transmission in third and fourth

Took a ride to Texas World Speedway to check out new Mustang SVTs. While running the 2.9 mile roadcoarse, the transmission stuck in third gear . The clutch works fine and disengages, but the shifter(B&M) wouldn't come out of third until sitting in the pit garage and cooling off . Once cooled, took it back out and ran the entire course in fourth, and it stuck in fourth.!!! Some fellow Vette vets suggested changing the clutch fluid to High Temp but I have a new competittion cluch with high temp fluid. Is there such a thing as high temp transmission fluid and could this be the problem?

Clutch fluid would not effect this. Nor tranny fluid.
My first guess would be broken synchro keys in the 3-4 synchro.
If one comes out it dont slide even back and forth, it tends to get cocked a little making it hard to move.
Im pretty fluent with T56s, but not the vettes shifter assembly. Just picked up a vette last week so I dont know if it uses linkage or what? Could be something related to that if so.?? which would be way less $$ to fix seeing if its my first guess you pretty much rebuild the tranny.

Thanx..the linkage doesn't appear to be a problem. The shifter was loosened and the adjustment screws were also. The whole unit was retightened and moved smoothly. Once the trans is put into third, it sticks. Is there an enhancement to the T56 which allows it to handle the additional BHP(430rwhp)?

I agree with the post above that you have broken 3-4 keys in your synchro assembly. This is the #1 problem we see in damaged T56's. We offer lots of upgrades depending on what budget will allow. Feel free to check out our website. www.RPMTransmissions.com We have many cores avaliable to build and you can send back your damaged unit to keep down time to a minimal.

I have a similar issue. You need a rebuild on the trans. T-56's suck. Give me a ZF anytime.
