Default To much resonance

I have recently installed Borla straight pipes and am now looking to reduce the resonance. If I install an "x" pipe will this help? I am running stock manifolds still. Or is an off road "x" pipe a better solution? Just wanting to know what you guys have had better results with. Thanks.

An X pipe will not help your resonance. I would suggest a Corsa system - no resonance.

How about just getting rid of the popping if I decide to keep the Borla. Maybe this is a better question.

Drop the Borlas & get the GHL's..

NO drone, NO resonance, NO motorboat putt putt sound..

Just a STRONG DEEP THROATY V8 MUSCLE CAR SOUND!

Well, I had a different result. I installed a Magnaflow X pipe and the resonance disappeared. Go figure, ask a simple question and you get conflicting info..... I am very pleased with the X pipe

Good luck.

Never ceases to amaze me. Ask a question about a technical issue and people chime in telling you what you should have done instead on the first place.

X pipe should help with burble and backfiring, any changes to your exhaust will affect your resonance to different points. It's certainly worth a try. With straight pipes you are probably going to have to live with some.

Hope that helps... Good Luck!

your going to get some noise since the road noise in the car is awful anyways, I always hear people complaining about drone........ I would go with the xpipe and see if that cures the poping a bit just enough for you, I believe you can get one from SS-autochrome for $175 bucks

A professional dyno tune will eliminate your popping and backfiring. It may even quiet the car down a bit as well.

Put some sound insulation, you can even use fiberglass batts for houses placed in plastic bags, in the three rear compartments, you will be pleasently suprised how much it will quiet your exhaust.

The wells are close to the exhaust and pick up and amplify the sound.

I believe you can buy a "resonator" from Borla for their exhaust systems.

i got borla quad stingers, xpipe and long tube bbk headers with no drone issues, no popping. just a nice snarl! oh, gm hot cam too.

i bought the car with all of it installed already so i don't know which mod eliminated what but the package works. at highway speed i can hardly hear anything - top up or down.

Yeah, you can adjust the closed throttle tables to get rid of or reduce the popping on decel. I kind of like the sound though...

Borlas are gonna drone. I just put my cats back on a couple of weeks ago. The difference in sound level and drone is significant. I also use an Xpipe.
