Default Radio will not activate CD player

I posted this before on the "General Discussion" forum and received no responses, so I am trying it here and hoping for some help.
I installed KoolMat in the rear compartment of my 98 Coupe. I had to unplug and remove the CD-Stacker in order to cover that part of the compartment. When I re-installed and plugged in the stacker I got no response from the "AUX" button on the radio. I ran the codes and came up with three related to the radio, all codes indicated a loss of communications with the BCM, PCM and one other com loss code of which I can't recall right now. I took it to the local chevy dealer and they tried to reset the communiocations. They had no luck. The dealer say's I need a new radio . That dosen't sound right to me.

Anyone....and I mean anyone have any suggestions?????

try this trick; with the changer unplugged... have the FM radio playing; and then switch to the AUX, and quickly plug-in the changer harness.

Default cd changer

My changer heibernates occasionally especially in winter. Maybe it really IS a BEAR. I get it working by removing the cartridge. Manually depressing the button on the cartridge to make sure the individual sleves for the CDs are not sticking. Then I reinsert the cartridge and close the sliding cover. Should hear some clicking for about 30 secs to a minute while the changer is checking out the cartridge and indexing each sleve. If it doesnt work the first time TRY AGAIN. Had to do this about a dozen times when it didn't work for several months and I didn't bother to play with it. IF YOU ACTUALLY REMOVED the cable MAKE SURE it is plugged in tight. If you didn't mess with the radio it PROBABLY ISN'T the problem. BIGHANK

To add to "bighank's" mentions, be sure to let it complete to reload process "BEFORE" you start the car. Starting the engine will cause the power to disconnect from the CD Player briefly which will result in it refusing to allow any disks to play till it properly completes the load process for each and all disks inserted.

I forgot to mention this when we talked last week. A few times I have turned on the ignition before the disks were finished being indexed by the player and my radio would then show an "Err" on the display and it would not play any of the disks in the changer. Will call you l8r.

The same thing happened to me the first time I unhooked the battery for a period of time. I thought there was something wrong with my radio but it was fine. I knew this because the radio and speakers worked fine but the CD Player was inop. Keep messing with it and give it some time to wake up out of hybernation

This seems to correct the problem, had the same thing happen to me when I put in some Dynomat and reconnected everything player would not go into AUX mode. The quick disconnect and re-plug worked.
