Did you make sure your glove box latch didn't accidentally get pushed into the closed position? When that happens the glove box door just bounces off the striker plate until the latch is opened and can engage the striker properly.

As for the rear compartment lid check Fuse #26, Fuse #32 and Relay 39 in the Instrument Panel Fuse Block. On the right hand B pillar check Ground 302 and Splice Pack 302.

Thanks for the input, I'll check the fuse box...but would I still hear a mechanism sound when Ipush the button to open hatch if the fuse was blowned??

no

Each latch has a small cable extending out of it, you should be able to pull the cables to manuall release the latches and and push the hatch open.

As a work-around, you can push the trunk button and then (with the windows up) close the door, it should pop the trunk up a bit, assuming the mechanism is trying to work.

Also, try pushing down on your hatch (maybe 30 pounds of pressure) and then hit the hatch button.

Just to support what Bill mentioned about the glovebox, that happens to mine several times a year. I just have to grab the outside handle and pull on it (as if the glovebox was closed and I'm trying to open it). Sometimes, as Bill already stated, the little catch piece gets closed prematurely and won't latch on to the clasp. Very easy fix. Takes 5 seconds.

You should try opening the hatch with the cables in the back to see if maybe its just stuck. The cables are really thin wound steel with small metal ends. They are all the way in the back on each side. I think its easier to find them if you take off the storage compartment lids. Once you pull them you can manually push the hatch up.

If the fuses and hatch relay are OK, it could be the BCM. (it controls the relay) Check all the BCM power fuses (I think there are 3)
