Default Clutch Issue

I've searched alot of the other threads looking for an answer to this question but I didn't find anything that seemed to fit my issue.

I was driving my '99 coupe the other day when I came to a stop light with no one in front of me. I decided to have some fun so I kicked the TC off and spun it up to about 2 grand. When I launched I felt my clutch slip some but it wasn't that bad so I grab second gear I continued to feel the clutch slip and the car reved out almost at once so I tried for thrid but when I went to push in the clutch there was no pressure and the peddel went strait to the floor. I let off the power and put it into 4th gear with out any problems.

The car has 55k on it and is pretty much stock except for a cat-back and a short throw shifter. Tires are brand new Goodyear F1 GS-D3's

I was planing on replacing the clutch and slave cylinder soon anyway. Should I be looking for anything else to replace considering the problem I just experienced?

With it slipping, pretty safe bet the clutch and pressure plate are going away. Replace the slave while you have it apart.

Maybe pressure plate over centered and just stayed down when pedal went to floor. When you let off, pressure plate fingers came aback to up/engaged position allowing you to shift normally into 4th.

I have had the same problem on 2 vettes. If you rev them high and shift then the pedal sticks to the floor.
Its the pressure plate fingers that are weak and cant overcome the centrifical force at high rpms.
I am getting a new clutch next week, and it wont be oem.
Then my car will feel like a sports car again.

My C6 did this today almost the exactly same way! My car is a month old and it has 1300 miles on it. I swear I was reading your post and it is basicly the same as mine in the C6 section. What the hell happened?? Mine did it too and the clutch was wierd for like a few minutes and then it went away?@!? If anyone has any idea of what this is please let us know.
