Mass Airflow Housing Question
I want to add a Mass Air Flow Housing to my 2000 Coupe with a twin flow air intake. I looked at them in Ecklers Catalog(pg.93). Here is my question, their are several options ranging in price from $45 all the way up to $400. Whats the difference and is one better than the other? They all claim to add up to 9 to 10 hoursepower. Thanks.

You won't see anywhere near that claimed gain. They are a waste of money IMHO. I learned my lesson on my 99Z, don't play with the MAF, the cost does not out weight the gains.

I interchange my screened stock MAF and my unscreened MAF with plastic ends to see which is better. I dont notice much change, but :
Last week I was going to put my plastic ends on my screened MAF and saw where the problem was.
On my Y2K stack MAF, you have the nice fat air wing in the middle of the MAF. I think that is more of an air reducer then the screen it's self.
For the guys that descreen their MAF, I think it is just as important if not more important to remove the airwing.
The tips do little if anything to help the air flow.
The theory behind the plastic MAF tips is the air entering the throttle body will be cooler. I dont notice much differance between either MAF I use
