So I've noticed in my garage a small slightly damp spot under the rearend of my vette, I don't think its been leaking very long and its really really minor drippage. However today on the way to work after pulling off the parkway i kept hearing a LOUD (like louder than the radio) metal scraping sound coming from the rearend especially on turns, I was going fairly slow too not faster than 30 mph. it honestly sounded like the metal scrapers telling you to change your brake pads. It slowly got quieter and the drive home the sound was gone. Pedal feel is the same, I looked under the car no loose crap or damage or anything and the leak is not worse, In fact it left no drips in the lot at work at all.
Any ideas as to what caused that noise, and is the rearend leak a bad enough problem to park the car till I can make my Vette Doctors appointment next week?
Sounds like the rear Diff. Maybe running out of fluid... Check that first.
I thought so too but the sound went away after driving around the lot for a few minutes and i drove the car home from work and locally just now with no noise. Id expect the diff to be more of a grinding noise, this was literally the sound like when you are sharpening a knife.
