Auto trans help..please.
While driving to work this morning, after 20 miles of normal opperation car would not shift past 2nd gear. at least i think it was second gear. top speed was around 45 mph with rpms at 2500-3000. then warning light came on for high trans temp at 207 degrees. I pulled over on side of highway. Now need to get towed home. Any ideas if low fluid level would cause this or a more serious problem.

I replace my tranny in another vette when it wouldnt shift into 3rd and I was told 4th was almost gone as well. Just an FYI the Chevy dealer charged $2650 for a new tranny with 3 year/100k warrenty. Hope thats not the case though!
