Guys running 3.73's, tell me what you think. Too much gear for the street, daily driver? Would you have chosen 3.42?
I have 3.15 right now, but I'm changing to either 3.42 or 3.73
What would you recommend?

Just switched from 3:42 to 3:73. Not that bad at all on the highway. I barely notice the change. I have a Z06 rear for sale.

I'm thinking doing the same thing..but I have 2:73 so I have to get up there to get that SOTP feel. I have this chart if you need some interesting numbers.
I love my 3.73s they work great on a daily driver and on the hi-way. The only other thing I would mention is go with a higher stall converter also. You can not believe the difference it will make Now that said you will wear out rear tires very quickly From a 20mph roll I can light the tires and get sideways by just putting it to the floor
You guys kill me. I'm jealous just hearing how much fun it sounds like I'm missing! LOL
I'm considering adding a TQ converter as well. The Wrst Coast Corvette TQ converter with a 2300-2400 stall seems perfect to me. They said I need to send them my computer for a mod to go with the gear change.
yes, you need a computer mod. Do yourself a favor and have the tranny seal changed while the carrier is being r/r'd. They are prone to leaking (actually there's a tsb on it) and is really cheap... once the carrier is dropped. No one said anything to me.. so I had my carrier dropped twice... IN A MONTH. $600 each time. yippy.

Why not just go for the 3:90's instead considering it's not really that much more rpm's that it would be turning.
If you plan on leaving the motor pretty mild I think 3.90s would be a lot of fun. But if you are going to build more hp I think you would have a real hard time getting traction at all. I am very happy with my set up I have now. I can spin the tires at will and still keep it civil when I need to Whatever you do get rid of the lame 2.73s Its just like getting a new car with a lot more hp
Right now I have 3.15
I like the gear, but I want to drop my 0-60 as much as possible. It sounds like for the money and everyones experience, the best jump would be to 3.73 instead of 3.42?
I will take this beast on road trips too...
So tough to decide. Wish I knew someone local I could ride with to see and feel the difference!
An A4 with 4.10's is a little much. 3.90's aren't bad, but 3.73's give the best of both worlds.
Its all in what you want!
I put 4.10s on my wife's A4 and its a rocket ship. Also put 4.10s on my MN6. Glad I went all the way on both. I did have to caution my wife to NEVER put her foot in it because it'll be too much for her.
Now if you want a track car maybe 3.73s are what you want. If you want to have maximum fun on the street then go 4.10s. I have a friend with a supercharged C5 and he drove my wife's car and knew even just hitting it part throttle that it was real quick. I never have to give it full throttle away from a light. If I did I suspect I'd have a real problem... no traction!
