By the way I thought there was a special tool package that had to be used to repair the Getrag diff.

I found the Diff quite simple to work on and it all came apart very easily. Inside the differential, Getrag uses bellville springs to provide preload to the posi clutch packs. When the diff bolts are removed, it unloads one side of the clutch pack while the other side (inside the diff housing w/ring gear) is still under load. Until the spider gear shaft is removed, the other clutch pack cannot be serviced. It appears to remove the shaft, the assembly must be placed into a press and pressure placed on the side gear to remove the load from the spider gear shaft. Then the shaft can be removed and whole assembly can be serviced. Luckily, I have a press and machine shop in my Garage, so working on the diff is not a problem. I would need to make several special tools however, if the ring and pinion were to be switched out.
Do you know if these C5 ring and pinions can be set up using the pinion depth measuring method?
