greetings! ive been trying to decide the route i want to go with my c5 coupe and i think ive figured it out. i dont want some ground pounding american dragster, and i dont want some under-powered wanna be good handling car.. so i need your help. my goal? turn my c5 into a supercar. so a modest 400-450 should be more than enough as far as power.... what do you reccomend? mind you, i dont want a choppy idle, i want my LS1 to sing to me, so agressive cams are out. also, I want race-like handling, while retaining daily driveability.. what shocks do you reccomend, I have the base suspension, so what should I upgrade? as far as looks, i want to stay away from the "tuner" look, so no overly "blinged" out wheels that are too big for the c5's bodylines, something tasteful, that looks like i could have been factory (if GM was ferarri, or BMW). i like the interior as-is and ill probably go caravaggio after a bit for that, but what drop do you reccomend? looks and functionality are important, moreso the performance though. no blacked out taillights (even though i love them) it just gives off too much of a tuner vibe... so.. can you help? how would you achieve these goals if you had a black on black c5 6spd?
Look at my sig. Although supercharging is an alternative, for long-term reliability I went with a C5R-427. I have an aggressive cam now to get me to over 500 RWTQ, however, other than that, the set-up is awesome. Previuosly I had a mild cam & you could not tell it wasn't stock until you punched it. The suspension, wheels, & tires provide world-class handling. The car is very competitive (typically with faster lap times) on a race course against C6 Z06, Ferrari, Porsche TT.
I run it at the track 5-6 times a year. The 427 Corvettes are a dominant force. I almost never see a supercharged C5 on the road course.

I added a Textralia OZ700 clutch, DTE brace, hardened driver's side shaft and a LPE GT2-3 cam before installing my A&A t-trim.
I agree with Steve@CTCorvette on the mod path. My car feels and sounds absolutely stock (until the pedal is stomped) and CCWs are the best choice for a wheel with real racing pedigree that isnt outrageously expensive. If I hadnt already owned Fikse's from a previous car I'd be sporting 18/19 SP500s for sure. You can check out my setup at Brian's sat morning also.

get a stroked LS2 from Scoggin Dickey, Lingenfelter, etc. Long tubes and a good tune, and you are in business!
I agree w/ David becuase your car has a good bit of miles and you have no clue how it was maintained or treted... thus it may not take kindly to boost.
A 402 would give you 470-550 rwhp depending on the heads/cam you pick and be fresh. Furthrmore, the labor to put in a new clutch would completely overlap.
