I had my check engine light come on and these 2 codes P0172 fuel trim system rich bank 1, P0175 fuel trim system rich bank 2 were all the codes i can delete theses codes and they will come back in less than 50 miles of driving.
can anyone tell me what i need to do to fix the problem with these 2code?
Is it something i can fix are do i have to take it to the dealer to get fixed?
the car has been dyno tuned about 8 months ago without any problems but i did the sea foam top end cleaning about 3 months ago and have only got to drive the car for about 200 miles since i did it could this have caused the problem i am having now?
the car runs great.
I'd say change your plugs, reset the codes, and run it for a while. I've seen quite a few posts on several different forums where Seafoam fouled the plugs, causing various codes to be thrown or poor running. After the plugs were changed, the previous issues went away.
During Closed Loop, the oxygen sensor inputs are added and used by the PCM to calculate short and long term fuel trim fuel delivery adjustments. If the O2S indicate a lean condition, the fuel trim values will be above 0 percent. If the O2S indicate a rich condition, the fuel trim values will be below 0 percent. Short term fuel trim values change rapidly in response to the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) voltage signals. Long term fuel trim makes coarse adjustments in order to maintain an air/fuel ratio of 14.7:1. The fuel trim diagnostic will conduct a test to determine if a rich failure actually exists, or if excessive vapor from the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister is causing a rich condition. If the PCM detects an excessively rich condition, DTC P0172 or P0175 sets.
Fuel contamination, such as water or alcohol will effect fuel trim.
Visually and physically inspect the following items:
The EVAP lines and components for damage or blockage--Refer to Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Hose Routing Diagram .
The inlet screen of the MAF sensor for blockage
The vacuum hoses for splits, kinks, and proper connections--Refer to Emission Hose Routing Diagram .
The air intake duct for being collapsed or restricted
The air filter for being dirty or restricted
Inspect for objects blocking the throttle body.
Inspect for the following:
Excessive fuel in the crankcase
Proper operation of the fuel pressure regulator--Refer to Fuel System Diagnosis .
All injectors are functioning properly--Refer to Fuel Injector Coil Test .
change your air filter element. i just pulled my honker last saturday because i was getting a p1514 code after installing it. the original filter assy had a dirty filter but i wanted to see if it would clear the p1514 but got the 172 and 175 codes after a few miles. put in a clean filter and cleaned my maf with throttle body cleaner and so far, no codes. now, what to do with this honker?
