I was talking to a Camaro guy who told me that if I put longtubes on my car that I will have to get a new x pipe too. I was under the impression that I could get my headers installed and do the x pipe later if I wanted.
I went through this a little bit a go, its kind of necessary. The long tubes will end about the place your cats are at now, which is a ways from where your stock H-pipe ends now. So from there to your ‘cat back’ you’ll need to come up with a solution. You'll most likely not have room to reuse the cats, and you'll need to get some high flow ones to fit. In either case, cats or no cats, the stock H-pipe would need to be cut. You could pay someone to cut your stock H-pipe and install it to your headers, but its probably close to the price of an x-pipe. I don’t think I would suggest you cutting it, unless you have experience with custom exhaust fabrication.
Getting a whole system: long tubes, high flow cats (or off-road pipes, which are a section of pipe to replace the cats), and x-pipe will make the installation a breeze relatively.
I have the LG street series, but I would think all long tubes fit into this description.
