Recently, whenever the engine is running on my vette, I have this click click click click noise that gets faster with the rpms. Is this the lifters? I've got 34000 on the vette and never heard this before. I know cammed LS1's like to click but I have the stock cam. Any ideas?
Its possible the lifters are the source. How many miles on the car? Oil need changing? Oil level low? The LS1 valve train isn't the quietest around. Did this come on suddenly?

I've got right at 34000 miles on the car. This came on (it seemed) after I made a run at the Tail of the Dragon ( I ran the car pretty hard)
The car has no power loss at all. The noise sounds like its coming from the driver side of that engine more than anywhere.
I need to check my oil again- It was fine last time I checked
Sounds like a lifter isn't pumping up. I have one too. Mine will come on after a few minutes at a normal idle but go away at a fast idle or just nornal driving. When I do a H/C job I will be replacing them with a quilty up graded set.
thats funny mine is doing the same exact thing. it's really loud after a good highway drive or if the car sat out side in the cold for a little while, sounds like the thing is going to explode. Mine is coming from the drivers side head area also it seems.

Will this cause any damage to just leave it be??- I plan on doing a H/C in the future sometime and would upgrade everything then as well.
How big of a job is this? I doubt I would try it myself but what am I looking at $$$ wise to get this fixed?
Not that bad of a job.
Pop off the FRC (Fuel Rail Cover) and then the valve cover.
Do a quick inspection to see if you can visually pinpoint problem, if not get someone to crank over your car and see if you can see any abnormal movement.
After that it's a simple remove and replacement of bad part.
