Default a tall guy... and a hardtop?

I am working on a 2000 hardtop 6spd for a guy who is like 6' 6" (+/- 2"-3"). He purchased the car, and then got to realizing that it didn't have the leg/head room he had remembered in his other c5s of past. He did some research, here in the forum, and had ran into other tall guys w/ hardtops that had had the same experience.

One of the guys he talked to in here stated that he had removed the seat track from the seat, and either fastend the seat directly to the floor... and/or built some brackets of some type that allowed him to position the seat a few inches farther back and down in order to increase head and leg room.

I have the seat removed and stripped down to the frame. As I am replacing the foam and covers also.

I also have the power tracks removed.

Down to just a naked, bare frame.

But, just looking at it... I am not quite sure of the best way or place to start this little adventure.

I am seeking any available guidance, thoughts, smart alec remarks, ideas, wild goose chases, urban legends and maybe even some spiritual and/or sexual advice on this topic before attempting to reinvent the wheel, or "build a better mouse trap" so to speak.

Thanks-kosmo

I think the maual seat tracks give you a little more headroom as the bolt closer to the floor.

Maybe someone else will chime in and verify.

haha Sexual advice?.....not from me my friend

I am 6'5. I dont really have a problem fitting into my coupe. It seems in the passenger seat that things are a little tight though. It actually feels real small in the passenger seat, I guess thats why I never sit over there!

If there is any adivce I could give you, tell the individual to slawtch!

I didn't see any easy way to do it either. I've heard cutting a few of the metal coils on the underside of the seat will cause you to sink in a little extra, effectively giving you more headroom.

I also cut down my bump-stop on the seat's downward adjustment. This allowed me to continue lowering the seat until the motor was resting on the floor. Just have to be careful not to move the seat front/back while it is this low. It's been borderline for me like that, I'm 6'4". I'm VERY close to the ceiling but I don't actually hit it.

6'2 plus here. not a 6'6 but i have 0 clear issues.

Anything is posible if you dont mind giving up your power seat. You could do mass mods and just build a new bottom frame, no rails and then bolt it to the floor with a plat. AWFUL lot of work though.

Funny you should mention this problem. I just ran into the inventor of the fix. Do a websearch for the "Gurney Bump".
