Left side headlight "flips past closed"

Left side headlight "flips past closed"
2001 coupe. I have installed brass gears in bith headlight motors and all is working great. Then the left headlight opens fine when lights are turned on, but when turned off the headlight cover flips "past normal closed position" about and additional 30 degrees (3 inches). Is there a micro switch in the motor? What causes the motor to stop at the desired position (mechanically?) After turnign the lights off I can manually twist the left on back down, but I am tired of this. I have been drivign with the PIAA's on and don't miss the headlights, but the headlight need fixed. Any answers?
