Default Need new shocks for 99FRC

Well it's time to get some shocks for the car. I have a 99 FRC slammed with 8" rear bolts and I have pulled out the isolators out of the front leaf.

I have been reading alot about guys running the c6 z06 shocks in their c5's is their any advantage of this over the 04 z06 shock? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. The car alrady rides like sh*t becuase of the stance so any help in ride quality would be wonderful!

Thanks!

If you're running stock shocks they're probably bottoming out.

Go with the Bilstein Sport Shocks; they're about 1.5" shorter than stock.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

sounds like the bilstein's are the answer to a slightly easier ride! Anyone else!

No, shocks will not change ride height. Your springs will have to settle after you lift your car but that is usually within 50 to 75 miles - some say less.

Default C6Z06 Shocks in a '99 FRC + C5 Z06 Aluminum Sway Bar End Links

I put a fresh set of C6Z06 shocks in my '99 FRC as well as the 2004 C5 Z06 aluminum sway bar end links, much improved handling. The fronts went in w/no problems. I used my '99s rubber shock bushings since they were in great shape, you can't use the bushings that come with the C6shocks, they're for a C6. The rears are a little different in that there's less threads on the C6 shock shaft than are on the C5 shock. I used a washer as a spacer so I could torque to spec. Bilstien Sports are another good option, about $120.00 more. If you go C6Z06 shocks and C5 Z06 end links use Gene at GM PartsHouse, great service/prices.

Good Luck

Good Luck

i did the same c6 z06 shocks and the aluminum endlinks, it does drive better but dosnt like to ride as nice when lowered all the way down, at about a 1 3/4" drop it rides very nice and handles better then stock

I have to disagree with this one. After swapping to Bilstein Sports my car dropped about 3/4" to 1". Can't say for sure because I didn't measure it before. But I scrape easily on a section of driveway that I cleared easily just hours before on the stock shocks.

Parking side by side with other C5s with stock setups, it is very obvious difference in ride height.

So YES, the sports will change your ride height.
