Is it a manual or automatic unit? If manual, just plug it in, and you're
good to go. If an automatic, it might index itself on startup, or you
might have to reset it. There are threads around on doing this.

To get the old one out, you need to loosen the arm rest (2 nuts
under covers inside the arm rest, 2 nuts under the traction control
cover), and pull the arm rest back about 3 inches.

Then remove 2 Torx15 screws in the ash tray area (one is actually
under the ash tray, which pulls out). There's a third Torx15 under
the small vented cover next to the ignition. Be careful
removing that cover, there is a delicate temp sensor under there.
Then, the whole console surround pulls straight backward.

That gives you access to the control module.
