Test Drove New M3
The one I drove was a silver convert with red and black guts. With about 1200mi on her..
Now for driving impressions
1.The stock shifter is very rubbery feeling with long throws I was expecting shorter more percise shifts....
2.Little low end torque you really have to drive the sheet out of it to get any real performance. As long as you stay above 5000rpm your ok.
3.In no way is it competition for the Z06 not even close. In fact my buddies 01 coupe m6 would walk over it.
4.The hype just dosn't pan out Motor Trend your on crack.
5.All and all a very nice car just don't buy it for its speed buy it for its back seat..
BUT ... you drove the wrong one. I have an M3 vert and have driven the M3 coupe (about 1 week). BIG DIFFERENCE!!! The vert is almost 400lbs heavier and not nearly as tight. The vert is about .5 slower 0-60 and will not handle nearly as well. There should be no comparison between the Vette and the M3. Two different cars. Different purposes blah blah blah. I just wanted to set the record straight. The M3 vert is much slower than the M3 coupe. Try a coupe, still not Z06 fast but pretty damn nice car. ;)
BTW my M3 will be gone sometime in late Dec ... with three daughters I now have an excuse for a BIG car. (RED M5 on order :D)
I forgot to mention that it wiggled a lot more than I expected. It dosn't like uneven pavement.
Soooo next time I'll drive a coupe.... :seeya

I had a run wth a new M3 a month ago while I was getting on the highway. He was in front of me and was taking the clover leaf at a good clip. I was on his tail ready to pass. Coming out of the entrance onto the Hway, I was able to pass him quite easily. He didn't try again as I would have embarassed him once again.
I also had a passenger and he did not. Nothing like a V8 when it comes to torque..
