Default Advice on headers and catback

I would like to install American Racing headers on my 2002 C5. Can I keep my stock mufflers, or will that negate some horsepower? I don't particularly want to sound any louder, but I will change the mufflers out if it will get me some HP gains. I would like to avoid any droning if possible, I think the magnaflows sound pretty good. Opinions?

If the car is stock, besides headers, you won't gain much by changing your catback. It a matter of a few HP. Not really noticeable.
However, if you plan on future mods and want to be "quiet", you should seriously consider the Z06 Ti exhaust. It is pretty affordable when bought used, it sounds great and is very light.
I have B&B Bulelts now with ARH and will swap them for the stock 99 exhaust or some Z06 Ti if I get a good price on them. I will be adding a forged motor soon (408ci) and with the heads and cam, it will become unbearable, I know that. The the B&B must go (I wouldn't mind keeping them but the cops won't like me )
Good luck!
