Clicking behind dash

When I turn the car on or just turn on(either to "on" or "ignition") everything works fine from what I can tell but there is a mechanical clicking/winding noise coming from behind the gauge cluster.

I have no idea what it could be...

Any ideas?

Probably coming from the column lock actuator.
Has your car had any of the recalls done?

mine does the same thing... i was under the impression that it was the A/C door acutators doing their range of travel check when you switch the car on.

So who's gonna tell us what it really is?

The previous owner installed/removed something where it no longer has that

a/c actuators make noise some times..
it will sound like a wirl with a click click click
also the ipc can make noise
try to remove the ipc fuse and re-cycle the ignition..
no noise its the ipc..
you can do the same by pulling the a/c control fuse...
