Default Passenger Door Lock questions

I tried doing a search but still could not find the info..maybe I suck at searching
Problem- Passenger door sometimes locks with remote and sometimes does not...ALSO, when hitting the door lock button itself (driver side or passenger side) it will not lock, only at times.
I tried looking through the 13 page sticky at the top of the forum here, but am at work and don't have time to read through all of it.
Can you guys help me out? I'd like to get this fixed or at least know what part I need as I am doing a stereo install soon and will already have the door apart.

Thanks

I would check connectors going to door and grounds ... seems that is real problem rather than module ($$$$) if I remember correctly. Bill Kay replaced my module while car was under warranty.

Try lock/unlock manually a few times on the door and then door switch. I believe mine worked fine for a short while after "exercising" manually.

Thanks. I will check the connectors, that's kind of what I was thinking/hoping it's not the module. I actually did try "exercising" manually, but it did not get any better.

Anyone else thoughts?

Pray it is just a loose connection. Mine was the module and the final bill was on the far side of $400. I think you cad get a module for under $200 if you look around and than you just have to disassemble the door and plug it in.

Ahhh, most likely the body control module relay is getting dirty. You can slice it open, use some fine sand paper or emory cloth to clean the contact then put it back together.

I had the exact same problem, but on the driver's side. Replaced the actuator thinking it was that, but it was not. It was the BCM relay. Cleaned it and no problems since, and my car is daily driven with 120K.

Here's some great instructions on how to do that- thought outlines how to replace the relay, it will show you what relay is in question and you can slice it open.

Thanks everyone, very good information. This forum rocks
Hopefully just a dirty connection and I don't have to buy any parts.
