Default AC troubles

A little problem with the air conditioning. First, last fall it blew cold air out of the drivers side and not the passengers. Now I get no cold air. I can not control the temp *****. It is stuck at 73. All other buttons work except front defroster. But once it is on it will not turn off. I have to shut the car down and even then sometimes it comes back on again. So I pulled the codes and got this....

BCM
B2578-H RF Turn Signal Monitor Circuit (Short to Voltage)
B2583-H LF Turn Signal Monitor Circuit (Short to Voltage)

SDM
B1001-H Option Configuration Error

RFA
U1096-H Loss of Communication with IPC
U1064-H Loss of Communication with BCM
U1016-H Loss of Communication with PCM
U2110-H Right Rear TPM Sensor Malfunction<---drag tires
U2215-H Left Rear TPM Sensor Malfunction<---drag tires

None of the codes were current. I cleared the codes and drove the car for a week. Pulled the codes again and B1001, U1096, U1016, and U1064 came back.

Any ideas why my AC buttons won't work? Is there an HVAC control module that can be bad? Any ideas would be appreciated.

There is a control module for the Duel Climate Control it is uder the passenger side dash.

You have to remove the panel under the glovebox and it's up in the corner behind the heater blower motor.

I replaced mine when I got my car as my blower motor was not working. The dealer had replaced my C/C display with e recon one but the display showed blower motor faster and slower but no blower. If you put a wire on the blower motor and touch it to ground that tells you if the blower is working or not. I relpaced the module with one from a Buick Regal for $25 got it on Ebay. GM dealer price is $80+ Everything works fine now. This is the part number of the one I used Blower Control Module p/n 52479971

He still has one available for sale on Ebay.com

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=230110249302
I not sure wether or not it would cause the problem you have.

Here is what the module looks like. The duel c/c module is different to the standard a/c module just for your info

It's held in with 3 screws and it a PITA to remove

Hope this is of help to you

Thanks for the response. Now its throwing..

B0446 Right Actuator Out of Range

Now if an actuator goes bad will it cause the whole thing to get screwy? I don't see how a bad actuator would cause the buttons on the display to not work.

Do a search on the forum for the actuator relearn procedure. Some have had success with doing this procedure before replacing parts.

Did it with no sucess. I think I'm just getting actuator trouble codes because the hvac control module is bad. Why else would all the other crazy things be happening? Like the limited and unpredictable use of the AC console.

If you have a buddy with a C5 try putting his HVAC display unit in there to see if anything changes!

Next step may have to be the stealership!
