I removed my radio to replace my hazard relay switch. When back there I noticed the attenna connection and 3 plugs that go into the back of the radio. But I also noticed a wire that was not connected, looks like a ground, but not sure where it should go. I have a picture below. Anyone know what this wire is for and where it should be connected?
I see two connectors and the antenna in the picture. It doesn't help that the pic is blurry - maybe my eyes are shot, but it might help if you took another clear picture, circled what you're talking about and posted the new picture.
I will try to get a better picture. The antenna wire is actually not in the picture that is posted. The wire in the center with the silver is the extra one I am reffering to. It does not have a plug in, so I am not sure where it goes or if it is needed. It did not seem to be plugged in when I took the radio out.
Crap, it is the ground out of the main harness. I plugged the radio up without it and I get a hum, then I touch the ground to the harness and it works. There are several slots that it could fit in, but not sure which one. Also I cannot get it to fit all the way in any of the holes, what is the best way to fix it?
I tried taping the wire to the harness, but it did not hold. I also tried to look in the service manual and found the wiring schematic, but it did not show which spot in the harness it goes into. I don't want to mess up my radio by shorting it out.
Would a place like radio shack have a new end for the wire so it would fit in the connector?

Radioshack might have that. Any "real" electrics store will have it. But what good would a new pin do if you don't know which position to put it in, in the harness? You don't need a new pin unless it's damaged. Those pins just click into place in the harness plug. Figure out where it goes and stuff it back in the plug. You should hear it click and when you give it a light tug, it shouldn't pull back out. If it does, you need a new one or you need to try and "fix" yours by bending it slightly.
Is it a black with a white or silver tracer? On my 01 if you look at the harness from the front the black section of the main harness has two rows. The top row is not used. The bottom row, looking right to left, has four slots in a row that are used, grey, tan, blue/green, light green, then an indexing gap then more slots. The black goes in the first slot after the gap then two unused slots then the the dark green wire, one unused slot then the orange wire. Does that jive with your plug?
