Default Leaky butt syndrome?

My 04 MN6 has 43,000 miles, had the dif fluid changed at 27,000 by a shop with redline synthetic. I changed the dif fluid myself today and noticed a lot of moist greasy dirt all over the dif box and the cross member. I've never seen puddles under the car. Could it be overflow from the vent tube from overfilling?

I degreased the area but didn't see any obvious leak. I will be watching it over the next few days. What do you guys think?

Mine leaked out the breather too. Drained a little out, no more leak.

I have a feeling it was overfilled last change and leaked out the breather. The stuff I cleaned off the diff looked old, and didn't have the gear oil smell.

I changed the fluid myself this time. Flattened out the car, let the fluid drain out the fill hole until it stopped, then closed it.

Good news is I've never seen a spot under the car.

Thanks for the advice.
