Spinning the balancer off!!
Went to the dyno this morning to do some runs with the spray. When I left the balancer bolt became loose and the balancer slid towards the steering rack. I got it back on and tightened it up on the road (with my custom made balancer wrench!!) and drove it back to my shop. We took it out again and blasted the spray and spun it again!
Has anyone else experienced problems with the balancer loosening up under hard pulls? I know that when I installed the head/cam setup that I set the balancer back on per the OEM instructions and using the GM tools. It seems to have been fine for the last couple of months. From what I can guess at it appears that when I hit the spray the crank is starting to spin in the balancer which would cause the bolt to reverse its direction and loosen the bolt. I guess it doesn't like 550 ft. lbs of torque! Any feedback would be appreciated.
