LS1 Stroker Torque
For those that have gone that route, is the low/mid range torque of a 382 stroker much different than stock LS1?
Is it generally worth the extra $8-10 K?

YEs! This is a torque monster!! That stroke just makes it night and day over a stock LS1. You will love the power for the street. If you are willing to spend the money then I would do it. IMO.

My 372 6 liter LS1 stroker puts out 450 ft/lbs at flywheel.
Downside is, its a bitch to launch the car off the line !
To me having great torque is number 1 for me :cool

For quarter mile performance your better off going with a 382ci all bore with stock stroke.
Nineball is make around 455rwhp and around 440rwtq with his 382 all bore.
The real key beyond the numbers is the quicker revving motor over a stroker. :yesnod:

How do you do an all bore 382 in an LS1? Need a special block?

You can do an all bore complete with install for around $10K.
You save a lot over a stroker too.
They basically enlarge the bore on your stock block, keep your crank and rods, and replace pistons, etc...
I beleive that if a 382 all bore is built right, it can compete with a typically built 422 stroker motor.
Last I checked Nineball was running low low 11's in his all bore 382 f-body, NA with no PCM performance programming other than rev limiter adjust.
