Suspesion Questions.
The car is bad to the bone!! The person that owned it before I did, lowered it by having the bushings cut. The tires were sucked up under the wheel wells. It road like $h!t. I could feel every pot hole and it seemed like I could feel ever penny I ran over. I took it back and had it lifted as much as I could, with was about 3 1/2 inches. The feels a little better. The rear end still bottoms out on most pot holes.
What is the life span of shocks. I think it may still have the stock shocks.Or what do you guy's suggest I try next????
Before replacing the stock shocks, I would restore the car to its stock ride height (front and rear) and, if needed, buy new stock bushings. You will also probably need to get the car aligned because when you change the ride height, especially by the amount you stated, it changes the car's suspension geometry.
FWIW, I recently bought a 99 FRC that still has stock shocks and it rides fine.
If you want to upgrade the suspension, a lot of people go with the Z06 suspension components (springs, shocks, and anti-sway bars). Seems a lot of people who do this favor the 04 shocks because of improvements made. On the anti-sway bars make sure you go with 2002 and up as they have the metal end-links. The previous years have plastic end links. You can usually find these parts at very good prices in the C5 parts for sale section.
Hope this helps.
