Hey guys, I have an 01' & an 02' both with the side trim molding along the door. I would like to remove them since I personally think my cars would look better without them.
I would like to know if removing them will hurt my values any (or help).
Also, anyone who have removed theirs, can you give me some pointers on the procedure since I don't want to mess up my doors or my paint.
search the forums, this has been discussed hundreds of times...basically, you'll need patience, knowledge of whether you car has been repainted in the past, heat gun or hair dryer, dental floss or fine fishing line, WD40 or goo remover, polish and bandages for your fingers.
"Value" is in the mind of the seller/buyer...it's only worth what the seller is willing to accept and the buyer is willing to pay.
Now, you'll get dozens of replies of pros/cons of the modification. It's your car, do what pleases you!

It's just a matter of using the correct search terms and doing some reading.
Seriously, the only negative issue I've ever heard about was someone who found out their car had been previously painted (paint stuck to the BSM) and blisters on the thumbs.
If you're careful in removing them, you can save them for resale later or sell them in the CF classifieds. I sold mine to a member who didn't have them on his C5 Commemorative Edition LeMans Blue convertible.
Do one side and see if you like it or not, then decide on doing the other side.
Neither KBB, nor Edmunds nor NADA list the side moldings as an option that affects the car's value, so there is apparently no economic consequence to a clean removal.
