Dealer clueless on clutch issue. Need input.
4k miles ago I had an RPS clutch & PP installed, along with a Cynergy flywheel and a new Z06 slave. This setup has been working flawlessly. No slippage, even with the STS turbos.
The wife drove it for a couple of days, and complained that it was almost impossible to get the car in gear at times. I checked things out, confirmed the problem, and noticed that the hydraulic fluid was looking really bad.
Sent it off to the dealership, and they threw a quote at me for new clutch, PP, flywheel, master, and slave. All without even looking at it. I had them try the master and new fluid first, as it was still original. No change. They wanted to do the rest, but I told them just replace the slave if clutch wear was minimal, so they did that. Again, no change.
You can put the car in gear fairly consistently with the engine off, and the clutch engages/disengages until you try changing gears, then it's stuck in neutral until you shut it off.
Naturally these guys are whining about having turbos and aftermarket clutch gear. Matter of fact, they're not particularly willing to install the stock clutch that they wanted to put in to begin with.
At this point, I'm not concerned about anything except getting it back on the road.
Anyone have some input I might give the shop to help solve this?
Thanks.
At the dealer, did they inspect the clutch and p/p when they replaced the slave? To pull the diff., trans and t tube and not look at the clutch and p/p before reassembly would be a huge mistake.
May have broken a few bolts on the p/p...?
Hopefully you are not having trans problems.
Oh yeah, get a remote bleeder and use it once a month, maybe more with your set up.

I agree that it was a mistake for them not to have done a thorough inspect on the clutch/pp. I'm almost convinced that the problem is with the gearbox vs. the clutch at this point.
Thanks for the advice on the bleeder, btw.
One other note: It did seem as though the trans shifted poorly for a short time after the wife drove it, then would return to normal. Wierd.
Aftermarket gear on the car can make things like getting to the clutch more time consuming, ergo, additional labor $$$.
