Default Hatch ajar

I wrecked my car a few months back and I just got it back from the shop. The damage was in the front of the car.

It says my hatch is ajar even when it is closed...and the interior lights will not turn off. Any ideas on what to check?

Thanks

I don't know what the hatch switch is because I don't have my car in front of me, but I would bet you have a broken connection in the switch. What I mean is you either have the contactor not making connection either at the switch, or one of the legs is physically broken. I would start at the switch (wherever it is) and try to get it to connect manually with you hand. If you can get it to turn off, then you have to figure out to make it meet correctly.

If you figure out how to engage the switch, but it still does nothing, you may have a bad switch or disconnected leg somehow. I would try a few things like bypassing the switch or even checking continuity in the wire. It sounds simple, but then again, I'm not looking at it.
