Hey all. I am having a problem with the windshied wipers. 2 days ago I went to car wash and wipers danced a bit then were on all the time. I had to remove the fuse to make them stop.
After doing lots of searching here, I learned that the utters were very clogged and the module/ wiper motor was wet.
I got Autozone rebuilt motor and replaced it. Now the wipers act up differently, sometime they wipe sometimes they are unresponsive, sometimes they go up and stick for a few seconds, sometimes in regular wipe mode they dont move, in Fast mode they work all the time.
Do I need a new motor , wiper arm assembly or anone else have a suggestion?
Van5150 Not sure if this is relavant, but I had exactly the same problem with a Chrysler Concorde. The dealer replaced the wiper motor and wiper switch with no results.....it turned out to be the wiper relay, a $2 part that was SO easy to replace. Sometimes the wipers were fine, but when the weather was damp they would act up.....replacing the wiper relay cured it. Not sure where the wiper relay is on the Vette, but hope this helps.
Well.,I've looked in the manual to see where the Relay is,.., and you know what., I dont see one,. Maybe the module takes place of the relay,.I'll think ill try replacing the module again.
I had a similar problem with two Autozone rebuilt motors. Gave up and purchased a new GM wiper motor, wish I had done that a year ago. Being a GM retiree I purchased the motor from SPO ( service parts operation) for $138.00, dealer cost. Other than that the best price I found on line was GM Parts House, $169.00 including shipping, good luck.
I had the same problem also. I bought a new motor thinking that was bad but I was informed by other Forum members to check the cowl drain on both sides. They look like big cow nipples (I was laughing when they told me). I believe drivers side has short nipples (2) and the pass side has the long one. After cleaning out the clogged drains, I disassembled the motor/module and blew it off with shop air. I let it sit over night to completely dry it and reinstalled everything the next day. I did this over 2 years ago without a problem. If you need a new GM wiper motor/module assembly, let me know. I'm sure I have the new one laying around somewhere.
Thankyou for your generous offer. I replaced with another Autozone wiper motor and this one works correctly. Now I just have to figue out the correct position for the cam for them to position correctly.
Van5150, Glad to hear that you tracked down your wiper problem. Pity it wasn't my simple relay fix but at least you have found the problem. Good luck with timing the cam for correct positioning.

I'm also on my second autozone motor... the first one never even worked. At least they have a lifetime warranty. Here's my very short writeup on the install (bottom post).
When I did my search Nitrojunky you were really the only one who had any info about the wiper issue and that exact thread was the one I used. Thankyou.
Wipers acting up again after installing second motor/module. I think its time to shop for a new one.
