Hey everyone I am getting ready to buy a full exhaust for my 99 Vette. I want something that sounds crisp and mean. I was thinking about getting some TPIS LTs, Bassani X, and a Borla xr1 muffler system. Anyone have this setup or recommend a nice race sounding  exhaust?
Phillip
If you want performance and sound, the Borla XR-1 is the way to go. It flows the best and has the highest HP gain, but it is not street legal. it idles at around 96 db's and hits 110db's at WOT. Federal guideline is 95db's max, which is also California law. I am a little biased since I work at Borla, but facts are facts!!
What is the internal shape and flow direction of the Borla Xr1 muffler for a C5? I know most of the xr1s are a bullet design with straight through plumbing, the C5 has inlets and outlets located on the same side. Are there any pics of the inside of a XR1 for a C5?
Phillip
Are the Borla Xr1s emission legal and do they have a single Xr1 race muffler in the center or is it a resonator? Thanks in advance!!
Phillip
BTW how do they sound with TPIS long tubes and no cats? :smash:
You can't do the Borla Xr1 and the X unless you remove the Cats. I was thinking the same thing when I bought my System. Headers and Xr1 will make your car real loud
Just a footnote, John Lingenfelter ran a 9.60 in Dallas last weekend in his 650hp street legal C-5. He was using our Titanium system. He said that the Borla Titanium exhaust system was the best flowing system to handle the output of those 650 ponies.
Another thought, we are considering changing the XR-1's to have 4 large round tips coming out the back, pretty much filling up the space. Would appreciate any feedback from forum members. This would not change the flow, sound or hp gains...mainly cosmetic.
Yes. The less restriction you got in the cats the more aggressive it would sound.
I can’t imagine what it would be like w/o cats. Probably too much at that point
Howabout LT headers?
I think there’s a little difference too, but not as much….
ric'sblack86,

I’m against it. I think XR1 is the meanest looking exhaust from the rear with it’s dual 4” tips. (and that’s before you start the car up ;) ) If you make quad 4” tips it would look stupid IMO (ricer like), but if you make quad tips with smaller diamter then it will look just like any other muffler out there. Just my .02 I already got one either way ;)

I was wondering if you could let me know the price of the Borla Titanium System. What exactly does the system come with and where can I listen to the sound versus other exhausts. I used to own a mustang and my friend has a Saleen so I love a great exhaust note. Thanks.
Not inexpensive...list on the Titanium system is $2,499.99 but the street price may be less. It is the same performance and sound as our stock C-5 unit, but half the weight.
