Default vararam intall in progress Having trouble please help

I am almost there! But when re-installing the shroud, the air tubes
that connect to the filter box are so tight against the shroud I
have to force them together. Doesn't seem right! This is a 04 coupe
and I have used two spacers on the bottom where the scoops connect to the nose of the car to try and bring it up more.

Any ideas?

Do a search using keywords, "cajundude, vararam installation". He came up with a manner to do the installation that deletes some of the suggested steps to allow for misalignment of the poorly engineered plastic pieces.
Try this...

Remove the screws and remove the spacers. Hook everything back up and lightly screw them down, or better yet remove the screws completely. There is more than enough of the slip joint to keep everything in place, even at high speed.

Loosen everything to hand tight and adjust to see where you ultimately need to be.
At this point you may need to back track a few steps to realign.

good luck savage1

Thanks guys.
I ended up pulling the shroud back out a couple of times and trying
various setups on the screws and spacers. It is still really tight
and a bit tricky to attach the air box to the tubes but I wrapped
it up and went for a drive anyway. After running a few trips at around
50-55 it seemed to have a bit more pep (made my wife's palms sweaty).
Never really ran through the gears hard yet but I think the install will work.

Thanks again!

You've got to follow the instructions to do this. However, I thought the car was running OK, but it seems to slip a bit, searching for the right gear( its an A4) at times. Another forum member told me the other day, that you have to get it tuned as well, to get everything running %100. I may be getting new gears, so I'm holding off on the tune until I decide for sure what I want to do.

did you remove the two screws that held the bottom of the stock air box they are torx and must go i used vise grips and they came right out also had to trim the blk plate that holds the tubes together was two wide at first put two new holes in it about 1/4 in and cut off extra. the intake is well worth the time to fit pulls alot harder now

Yes I followed everything by the book. Guess mine is just going to be tight. Everything looks OK but pretty difficult attaching the air box to
the tubes. I spent 5 hours on this install trying to make more room but
could see no way to make it happen. I could always just remove the screws up front if it becomes a problem as mentioned above.

Thanks
