Default I Blew My Engine and Need Help!

I found out the other day that I blew my engine and will require major repair work. The block and heads are un-damaged. My mechanic will be calling me soon with options but I wanted to hear informed advice from forum members. I have a 2001 ZO6 with 100k miles; after market cam, headers, free flow cats, X-pipe and SLP cat backs. The engine made 430 rwhp dyno'd. I've considered a few options...

(1) Crate Engine Replacement....$$$?
(2) Rebuild to a stroker 383....$$$?
(3) Rebuild to 427....$$$?
(4) Rebuild to blue print specs....$$$?

I am concerned about pricing and I have no price points for comparison. Could provide pricing information... I have a $4500 budget. What should I be concerned about when an engine is pulled? Thanks

Interesting - what were you told "blew"?

As far as I can tell - if you get someone else to build it for you these are the prices I keep coming accross:

(1) Crate Engine Replacement....+- $4,500
(2) Rebuild to a stroker 383....+-$8,500
(3) Rebuild to 427....+-$12,000
(4) Rebuild to blue print specs....smae as 2006/2007 crate GM LS6 + labour.

I have a 9,600 mile 03 LS6 that is perfect. Just removed from a car Sat to make way for a LS7. Can document motor. ~$2,900 shipped complete. Unopened long block, valley to pan.

You're not going to get much for $4500 since about a 1/4 of that is going to be labor unless you do it yourself.
If you do it yourself, then you could get a 402 shortblock. Otherwise, you may want to talk to "see5" about his LS6 he is selling.

If you have a good mechamic and you trust him, go with his reccomendations. Most importantly do it once and do it right, even if it costs alittle more!!
