I got a 99' differential with 3.15:1 gears, 55k miles that has no whine, growl, or anything. $500 shipped and you can have it. Send me a PM if you are interested.
DTE wants $700 just for a core.

I drove my car tonight after letting it sit over the weekend and I could not believe my ears... but no whine...
I do not know if it is hiding but I'm happy right now!

I whined about the 2.73 ratio until I replaced it with the 3.42
Really there should be no whine in any differential zero, zip, ziltch!
Now I just have to convince the folks at Pontiac my GTO is unacceptable!

The axle has had a whine on decel since the day it was new!
It's a Dana 44 and they are well known for the problem, in fact that's one of the reasons GM quit putting in the C4 automatic Corvettes!
