Default Is this normal wear?

You can see the wear marks in the center of the lobes. It only had about 4k miles on it.

Hard to tell from the photo but it don't look good. How does it feel? Is the marks smooth? If there is no pitting on either the cam or lifters your probably OK and it is probably normal. But if it is rough or pitted then that wouldn't be good.

My OE cam had more miles on it that yours and mine did NOT have distinct wear marks in the center of the lobes.

If it is pitted I would run from it! Once pitted the wear rate is escalated very rapidly. Sounds like the cam was not harden correctly. Hard to tell from the photo but I found it odd to have what looked to be marks only on the top and ramps but none on the base circle. What brand cam is that? Have you talked with the manufacture?

I wouldn't run those lifters on another cam either. Good chance they too are pitted now.
