I'm getting the car ready for its first road race day. While doing that I'm performing the poor mans brake fluid change by sucking out the fluid with a turkey baster and replacing it with Valvoline synthetic DOT 4
I make sure not to empty the master cylinder reservoir .
I've done it twice so far and after I do it, the next time I start the car I get active handling, traction control and ABS warnings.
It sets a TCS code of C1226H
When I reset it, it doesnt come back until I flushed the master cylinder reservoir.
Is this something that I should be concerned about? Is a sensor on its way out?
I'd rather not find out at my first session of road racing
This code is for excessive wheel speed variation at the right front wheel. Working on the master cylinder doesn't have any connection to this. Your method of brake bleeding probably will not get the job done. You are not getting a proper transfer of fluid out of the calipers. Get a friend and jack up the car and pump the brake pedal to bleed the brakes. This is a time tested method and will cost a couple of beers at the most. While you are working on the right front wheel check the wheel speed sensor connections.
Just had the same messages for the last 6 months. Usually when I hit a bump or spun the tires.
Pulled the codes, and got C1226.
Checked resistance and rotating AC output from the RF speed sensor. Checked o.k. per service manual.
I rebent the female contacts in the jumper harness at both ends, as others have done previously. Used a stiff sewing needle in a pair of Vice Grips as a tool to pick them out from the side, to ensure better contact when reassembled. Worked like a charm. Sprayed all connections with contact cleaner (even though they looked clean), and put it all back together. Car hasn't had a message for a week now.
I love free fixes...... dealer probably would have changed the hub.
