Default the other headers...

I have been seriously considering headers for my car. I had it narrowed to TPIS until I started hearing stories about how it could crack. Not good. Needless to say, I am looking for other brands. SLP definitely caught my interest after hearing on the rave reviews from F body owners. Please check out their package at http://www.slponline.com/ws.asp Price is a little steep but if they really produce the gains they advertise (I seriously doubt it), I am a happy man. In addition, the free flow cat also sounds tempting as well. Best of all, the headers appear to be top notch with 100% stainless steel construction. Per discussions with SLP, they are expecting C5 packages to be released as early as next month.

Secondly, what do you guys think about the BreathlessPerformance headers?

I am looking for headers that are of high quality and yet easy to install. ohh, and are reasonably priced (i.e., around $1000 or less). I guess, who isn't looking for something like that!

thanks!!!

Are there any particular reasons you are not considering the TTS Long Tube Headers? I know they are a bit extra cash but there has never been any quality issues with them to my knowledge. They are a lot more heavy duty than the other LTs I have seen out there as well. Thicker flanges and a larger collector. Of course their tubes are a bit smaller diameter but if you do not have any huge plans for a stroker engine they are only an advantage in my opinion.

Matt,

TTS are running well above $1000, right? How's the installation (is it more difficult than TPIS)? and what kind of gains can I expect?

Thanks

He have the TTS for $1150 shipped..

Install is not really any more difficult than the TPIS from what I have experienced.

The smaller tubes of the TTS seem to offer greater mid-low end power gains than the larger diameter headers. I believe Chrislee2 on the forum gained 23rwhp from his set of TTS headers. Some people think the smaller tubes really hurt peak hp gains but I dont find that to be true at all. I run them on my car with my rather agressive heads/cam package and they produced some great numbers.

I swapped cars with someone that had the EXACT same heads/cam package as me but with TPIS headers. We both agreed that my car felt to have more power down lower in the rpm range, which is where we spend most of our time driving.

Maybe chrislee2 will chime in with his words about the TTS headers. I also know he had some before-after dyno sheets that he was very impressed with.

Dan,

Congratulations on your new awesome setup! I am jealous!!! Now, you can start stalking all those big dawgs on the street - esp. that certain SS Camaro

MattG,

Thank you for the info. Purhaps TTS is really my answer since I am not thinking about doing heads and cam.

No problem. Let me know if you need any more information on them or if you are ever ready to place an order.

Default Performance aint cheap!

TTS are very good headers, I would use them again. The engine mount on the passenger side has to be loosened to raise the motor slight. No biggie!

I recommend the Belangers over anything avilable now. I have sold and installed TTS, TPIS and Belanger. Belangers are an easy install (compared to one of the others), the best quality and produce the most power too! These are not new. Belangers were one if not the first long tube header offered for the C5. The first dealer for them never promoted the product so Xtreme has picked up the line. I will dyno these as soon as our shop dyno comes in.
We are the exclusive dealer for these so please email me if interested for more info. I will be offering these at a special price as part of a promotion sale.
