It has been done, how much work it is, I'm not exactly sure. Obviously a clutch, tranny, clutch hydralics, flywheel, pedal assembly.
I have a tranny and stock flywheel if you decide to do it, let me know. Dan

Also the PCM would have to be reprogrammed. Not sure if BCM also would need reprogramming. Pedal assembly would need to have correct switches for clutch pedal for the starter inter-lock ... does the wiring harness support this ??? Different wiring between A4 and 6 speed trannys and the PCM ...
Personnally ... I cannot imagine this is a cost effective thing to do. Sell the A4 car and buy one with a 6 speed .... Whatever that costs has to be WAY cheaper than the labor and parts of changing them out of the existing car.
It has been done before, but is a big undertaking. You need the following parts: clutch, flywheel, torque tube, new gears for differential if you want 3.42 rear, clutch pedal assembly, shifter, clutch master cylinder, and wiring harness. You will also need to have your PCM (powertrain control module) reprogrammed from automatic to manual.
It's not cheap but you can buy the parts in the C5 parts for sale section. Also , you will be able to recover some of the cost of making the switch by selling the parts off your car.
I faced a similar decisions and opted to sell the auto and buy a stick. I also switched from a coupe to an FRC.
