need some help please, I installed my new halltech last night and damaged the little cage or guard around the air intake temp sensor. The sensor part is 100% fine no bends or issues, just the little plastic cage part that protect the sensor in the air bridge.
I installed it anyway and took her for a rip, no codes no idling problems. Do any of you see an issue with leaving it like that >? or does that little plastic cage slow down the air for a proper reading ?
I really don't want to spend $80 if I don't need to replace it.
I would think you are ok since the little cage is probably there more for sensor protection than anything else. If you ever want to test your sensor you can use a dvm and then take a measurement across the leads using the resistance function. Then heat up the element with a hair dryer and then check the readings. If you see a change then you know it is reading the temperature change. As stated earlier, the cage is more for protecting the sensor element.
