Default HELP! I have a C1241 and a C1281 code.

I have a C1241 and a C1281 code. Do you think the two are related?

I read all about what Bill Curlee said about the C1241 in this post
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ighlight=C1241

It seems like the Manual is telling me to check for a broken wire or a loose connection. Is this what you interpret it to mean?

I also read about the C1281 in this post. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ighlight=c1281

This one seems to mean I need a New Steering Wheel Position Sensor.

Are these two items somewhat common repair items, or am I REALLY looking at a EBCM issue?

The common link for these two failures is the EBCM however, you need to check wiring, and connections first.

Yes it is. See below.

No not necessarily. The C1281 diagnostic also points to checking wiring, etc. See below.

You very well may have to replace a component to fix either code. However, the first thing you should always do is check for poor connections, poor grounds or wiring problems. The vast majority of electronic problems are due to connection, ground or wiring problems. Just the act of pulling a connector apart and putting it back together again can sometimes solve a problem.

I wouldn't say they were common.

What year is your car? Does it have Active Handling?

Bill

DOH! Guess I should get my signature taken care of.

I have a totally stock 98 Convertible, with an automatic transmission, and ride control.
